Press Release

microDATA GIS, Inc. is capturing mapping information in West Virginia counties for the West Virginia Statewide Addressing and Mapping Board

November 3, 2004: In cooperation with the West Virginia Statewide Addressing and Mapping Board (WVSAMB) and the Harrison County Bureau of Emergency Services, microDATA GIS will be working in Harrison County to map and collect important 9-1-1 response information.

Please be aware that several White Jeep™ Liberties with microDATA GIS & WVSAMB decals and a yellow and white caution light on the top will be traveling throughout the towns in the county. They will be stopping frequently to capture road centerlines, street names, site information and digital pictures of every building.

The goal of the project is to enhance the 9-1-1 database for emergency response through the conversion of rural route addresses to city-type street addresses. If a locatable address does not exist for your building, one will be developed for emergency 9-1-1 and delivery purposes. This information is also required to obtain a driver’s license, bank accounts, and utility service.

All data collected is CONFIDENTIAL.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact microDATA GIS at 1-800-722-6663 ext. 805.

You can also contact the Harrison County Bureau of Emergency Services at (304) 623-6559 and speak with Greg Skidmore, the Addressing and Mapping Coordinator for Harrison County.

We will be more than happy to give you additional information on the project.
